With a recent podium finish at the Dutch Masters of Motocross, Davy Pootjes was super pumped and focused heading to Italy. The young Dutchmen gets on well with sand tracks and in time practice managed 8th fastest time and 7th place in qualifying.

Rain overnight meant the track was very muddy come race day. In both races Davy Pootjes made it through the first turns in the top 5 and was able to hold his place with a 4th in the first moto.

In the second moto Pootjes took 3rd place after the first lap. The battle for 2nd to 6th was close and towards the end of the race the leading was down to 3 riders vying for 3rd, 4th and 5th spot. With Pootjes in 3rd he slipped in a turn on the penultimate lap and finished 4th.
With two 4th places, Davy Pootjes took 3rd place in the overall standings and made it onto the podium for the first time in his 40th MXGP race.
“It’s been a tough but so good day! The day started with a crash in warmup and landed in the ditch, which resulted my bike and me were completely under water. My team and mechanic did a great job to get everything ready and I rode two really good moto’s for 3rd overall! Even crashed in moto 2 with 2 laps to go which cost me second overall but anyway I’m super happy with my first MX2 podium for me and the Team.”
