With a thunderous crowd behind him, Luc Ackermann was rampant at the NIGHT of the JUMPs Hamburg to take his first ever NOTJ win in front of a 7,000 strong crowd.

Lucy had already shown a breathtaking run in qualification and qualified in 1st position. The highlight was Luc’s signature Surfer take-off to Tsunami Flip which is definitely one of the biggest in the FMX business right now. After qualifying in first place, the roar from the Hamburg crowd appeared to make the difference for the final rider, Luc Ackermann. The pressure was on the 19 year old, but he kept his cool while performing some of the biggest tricks in Freestyle Motocross.

After landing his huge signature Surfer take-off to Tsunami Flip over a huge distance, the rapturous crowd couldn’t get enough when he landed the 540 Flair and finished with the California Roll. After one of the closest finals at NIGHT of the JUMPs, Ackermann would finish on top of the podium for the very first time in history.

“I am super pumped about my first NIGHT of the JUMPs win. This is something I have dreamed of since I first saw my brother Hannes riding at NIGHT of the JUMPs. It means a lot for me and is definitely the biggest success in my sports career so far!“
3-time World Champion Maikel Melero qualified in third position for the final six. But this time it was not enough to take the win in a strong rider field. Unfortunately Maikel made some minor mistakes in his final run and finished in 5th position. Maikel was at the Spanish FMX Championships the day before and won. After the event in Spain he directly travelled by airplane to Hamburg for the NOTJ and arrived in the middle of the night. Of course, he was short of sleep and couldn’t perform 100%. Props to Maikel to ride two contests in 24 hours.

Maikel:
„I’m already back home after an intense weekend competing at the first stop of the Spanish Freestyle Championship on Friday and just a day later at Night of The Jumps in Hamburg. The first stop of the Spanish Championship was held very close from my hometown, Albacete, where I could finish 1st even though I was in some pain due to a previous crash while doing a flair.  The day after at Night Of The Jumps I didn’t feel 100% from the beginning. My qualification run was not too bad but I made some mistakes in the final round and finished 5th. Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn!“
NIGHT of the JUMPs will now enter the Summer Break and return with the first overseas event of the season later in 2017 to continue the longest running Freestyle Motocross sports series in the world. Video link Best Tricks NIGHT of the JUMPs Hamburg:
