Jan Flor and Max Hartenstern are the 2016 German MTB Downhill Champions in the U17 and U19 category.

From Max:

“Tabarz was a stop of the German Downhill Cup and the German DH Championship. The track was the same like last year with a few small changes in the top and middle sections. After the training on Friday and Saturday it was time for the seeding run. The weather and the track was good so I was really motivated. My run was almost perfect and I was really happy with the time which was fastest in the U19 class.

The practise session on Sunday was great and I was looking forward to the final. I didn’t have the best run with a few mistakes, but despite that I still managed to win the U19 class with a lead of 3 seconds.

From Jan:

“After the track walk on Friday I knew I could get a good result this weekend. On Saturday morning I was checking for the best lines during the practise session. The plan was to ride safely and not risk that much during the qualifying run. Finally my plan paid off and I placed 3rd – 2.8 seconds behind the leader. Afterwards we did another track walk and checked the lines of the Pros.

Feeling really well prepared, I started my final run on Sunday. Everything went to plan and I was 2 seconds faster than the day before. Only two riders were left after me. Fortunately they couldn’t beat my time and I can call myself the 2016 German DH Champion in the U17 category!” | Jan Flor
